1. GUINNESS STOREHOUSE
It wouldn’t be a successful trip to Ireland’s capital without a visit to the home of The Black Stuff. Whether you drink c or not, a trip to the storehouse is a must and gives you an interesting perspective about the area, the production of the stout, life in the area when Guinness started and the advertising and imagery through the years. The storehouse is set within a pint-shaped glass atrium over seven floors easily navigable alone or with an audio guide. At the ‘head’ of the pint is the gravity bar, where you’ll collect your complimentary pint of Guinness and enjoy 360-degree views of Dublin. The storehouse is located in the historic heart and soul of Dublin, a colourful and bustling area called the Liberties where you’ll find markets, parks, attractions and more.
2. DUBLIN ZOO
Located among lush greenery and wide-open space in Dublin’s Phoenix Park, Dublin Zoo is a must-do for families, couples and groups when visiting the city. The 28 hectares of space attracts over a million visitors a year and is officially Ireland’s biggest family attraction. Inside you’ll find habitats and enclosures for over 400 species from all over the globe, many of which are extremely rare and whose very survival is under threat in the wild. Enjoy many different environments especially suited to tropical animals like the African Plains and the Reptile House. It’s a full day out with plenty of opportunities to stop and snack or picnic. When you’re done, enjoy a wander around the beautiful Phoenix Park visiting the herds of wild deer and the home of Ireland’s President.
3. TEMPLE BAR
Temple Bar is the epicentre of the city centre and a place to go to drink pints and enjoy live music with thousands of visitors. Take advantage of the notorious céad míle fáilte (hundred thousand welcomes) enjoying a pub crawl among the dozens of bars, pubs and restaurants in the Temple Bar area which seems to grow bigger every time we check! You’ll find some of Dublin’s best pubs serving delicious drinks and most have free live music. You can grab a bite to eat in one of the many pubs or fast-food places in the area or venture slightly further afield to Georges St/Camden St and enjoy some fantastic international cuisine. 4. TRINITY COLLEGE/BOOK OF KELLS
Trinity College roughly marks the centre of the city. It’s a midway point between the North and South sides of Dublin and is surrounded by history, attractions and fantastic shopping. Trinity College is one of the most prestigious colleges in the country and attracts talent from around the world. It’s not just for students however; visitors are enamoured by the buildings and space contained by its early 19th century walls. The Book of Kells, one of Ireland’s greatest cultural treasures, is held here too and is available to see in the Long Room, one of the world’s most beautiful libraries.
