In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
IVF treatment is carried out if previous attempts have not resulted in pregnancy or the Fallopian tubes are damaged/missing and the sperm quality is sufficient for fertilization of the egg without support. Ideally, a larger number of eggs are obtained and fertilized so that multiple attempts or pregnancies Are possible with one treatment.
What is IVF treatment?
During an IVF Cost in Pakistan, which is also called artificial insemination, in contrast to the natural cycle, where only one egg cell matures and is fertilized, we support the entire group of egg cells that are ready to go. The aim is – depending on the initial situation – to bring about five – 15 (20) eggs to maturity in parallel. After egg retrieval, we try to fertilize all mature eggs. The fertilized eggs can mature into embryos in two to five days. If possible and desired, we then return an embryo and hope for implantation. All further fertilized eggs or embryos will be frozen for later experiments with your consent.
Step 1: Ovarian Stimulation
When preparing the stimulation treatment, we use ultrasound control to ensure that the conditions for successful treatment are met. At this point you have often already started the two to three week hormonal per-treatment, which is well tolerated – apart from possible tiredness and irritability. The maltreatment serves to optimize the subsequent maturation process of the eggs.
- To stimulate the ovaries, we use messenger substances to the ovaries. Estrogen is produced by the maturing follicles themselves. Ovarian stimulation takes the form of daily injections that you or your partner can easily do yourself. We will of course instruct you on how to administer these injections.
- To prevent premature ovulation from occurring, administer a so-called Gnash agonist (e.g. Decapeptyl®) or Gnash antagonist (e.g. Orangutan®) in addition to the stimulation preparation.
- The dosage of the medication is determined by the estrogen levels measured in the blood. We use ultrasound examinations at defined times during the stimulation process to monitor the growth of the maturing follicles. In this way we find the most favorable time to obtain an optimal number of mature, fertilization eggs.
- As soon as the hormone and ultrasound findings have reached the necessary values (usually between the 9th and 13th day of stimulation), we trigger the final egg cell maturation and ovulation with another injection (HCG Victorville or Gnash agonist Decapeptyl®) as the final preparation step egg retrieval.
Natural IVF
If you would like IVF without hormones if possible (Natural IVF), this is also possible and usually allows one (or two) eggs to be obtained. We would be happy to inform you in a personal conversation about when natural IVF makes sense, the exact procedure and what advantages and disadvantages natural IVF has compared to IVF with hormonal stimulation.
Step 2: Obtaining the eggs
Two days after the last injection, we puncture the follicles (follicle puncture) shortly before ovulation, so that we can obtain the mature eggs that are therefore ready for fertilization.
The funicular puncture is carried out on an outpatient basis and under ultrasound guidance. The eggs and the funicular fluid are sucked out of the ovaries through the vagina using a fine hollow needle. The short procedure in our procedure room lasts 10 – 15 minutes and, depending on your wishes and medical requirements, is carried out either under a short anesthesia or awake with a painkiller and a relaxation medication. One to two hours after the procedure, you can leave the hospital after a short information interview, but you are not allowed to drive a motor vehicle that day.
Step 3: Insemination of the eggs
While the eggs are being retrieved, the embryologist examines in the laboratory right next to the procedure room whether there are eggs in the funicular fluid that has been suctioned out. All eggs are placed in a special culture medium and rest under ideal conditions for further development into embryos until Fertility Center Lahore.
