Burj Khalifa
The Burj Khalifa, also known as Burj Dubai, is a megatall skyscraper located in downtown Dubai. It is part of a massive development called Downtown Burj Khalifa, which includes apartments, parks and many other buildings. The building officially opened on January 4, 2010. At 829.8 m (2,722 ft), it is currently the tallest man-made structure on Earth by both height and pinnacle height (antenna included). It was previously known as Burj Dubai before it was officially renamed to honor Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of UAE from 2004 to 2009. The tower has 160 habitable floors, with several observation decks accessible to tourists. In addition, there are four mechanical floors at the top that serve as an antenna mast. There are two entrances for visitors: one at ground level, facing Dubai Mall; and another one on the upper side of Tower One (the office space) via a bridge connecting it with Tower Two. This bridge was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava Valls; its design won several awards for its innovative design when it was completed in 2008. The main contractor for construction was Samsung C&T Corporation—the company responsible for constructing all supertall towers in Dubai including Burj Khalifa—with Schlaich Bergermann & Partner as structural engineers and Artech Consultants providing architecture and MEP engineering services respectively.
Ski Dubai
If you’re looking for some fun, there are few things better than skiing. Ski Dubai is a man-made ski mountain that stretches two kilometers across Sheikh Zayed Road and stands seven stories tall. Once inside, you can strap on skis and snowboards and head down groomed slopes of varying degrees of difficulty—perfect for beginner to intermediate skiers (and snowboarders). There’s even an indoor water park with two wave pools, two speed slides, a lazy river, an enclosed basin with three more slides for little ones under 48 inches tall and a kiddie park with more than 25 rides just for kids ages four to 12. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is an architectural wonder with a capacity of 40,000 worshipers. It’s one of several holy sites within walking distance of each other in Abu Dhabi and a must-see on any UAE itinerary. The modern Islamic structure stands out from nearby buildings because of its distinctively vertical design and curved architecture, which was influenced by traditional Arabic patterns. Visitors can enter for free during prayer times (up to six times daily) but should be sure to dress conservatively beforehand—especially women—to respect local customs. Tours are available for non-Muslims at designated times, but it’s important to show up early so you don’t have to wait too long. Photography isn’t allowed inside, though there are plenty of opportunities outside. And make sure to stop by after sunset when many parts of the mosque come alive with colorful lighting effects. There’s also a Museum of Islamic Art connected to the mosque that houses ancient artifacts and documents about Islam’s history in Abu Dhabi. If you want to learn more about Muslim culture before or after your visit, try taking an imam tour around town. This is when locals take tourists into their homes or workplaces where they explain their traditions and answer questions over dinner or tea. Be prepared to pay anywhere from $30-$100 per person depending on how fancy your host wants to go!
Yas Island
If you’re a fan of Formula 1, then you may have heard of Yas Island. The famous racing circuit is based here, and it’s not hard to see why—the place has both F1 and several other tracks as well as go-karting facilities and other entertainment opportunities (such as a water park). If that doesn’t sound like your thing, there are also shopping malls and plenty of beaches with pristine white sand. In short, Yas Island has something for everyone. It’s located on an island off Abu Dhabi, so if you only want to visit one tourist destination in Dubai, make sure it’s Yas Island. There are three hotels at Yas Island: Grand Hyatt, Conrad, and Al Forsan Village. There’s also a helipad if you prefer aerial transportation!
If driving from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, then taking Route 66 (also known as Emirates Road) is by far the fastest way to get there for office movers and packers in dubai.
